Western Azerbaijan Community
After another political crisis in the Kingdom of Belgium that lasted seven months, on February 1, 2025, a group of political parties signed a coalition agreement and formed a government. The agreement contains provisions that are destructive and discriminatory towards Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis.
By using expressions such as "Nagorno-Karabakh" in the coalition agreement, an attempt was made to undermine the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In addition, the agreement raises the issue of creating conditions for the return of Armenians who left Azerbaijan. However, not a word is said about the return of Azerbaijanis who were forcibly expelled from Armenia. This is ethnic and religious discrimination against Western Azerbaijanis by the Belgian government.
Instead of including issues that are irrelevant to their country in the agreement and demonstrating a discriminatory approach that is contrary to international law, it would be advisable for Belgian political parties to address the political system of Belgium, which is in chronic crisis.
We call on the new Belgian government to end ethnic discrimination against Azerbaijanis, refrain from taking steps that hinder peace in the region, and respect the right of Western Azerbaijanis to return.
