The Secretariat of the United Nations (UN) has circulated the address of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the participants of the international conference titled “Return to Western Azerbaijan as a Key Prerequisite for the Supremacy of Human Rights,” held on May 21, 2025, in the capital of Türkiye — Ankara, as well as the final document of the conference, as official documents of the UN Security Council and the General Assembly.

The dissemination of this address by President Ilham Aliyev — who consistently and firmly keeps the issue of Western Azerbaijan on the international agenda — as an official UN document plays a significant role in strengthening international support for the return to Western Azerbaijan as a human rights issue.

The Western Azerbaijan Community will continue its efforts to ensure international support for the return process in a peaceful, safe, and dignified manner. The community demands that the Government of Armenia create conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their homes, in accordance with the obligations undertaken by that country under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other relevant international conventions.
