The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on the Commissioner of the Council of Europe to refrain from discrimination and to support the right of return

In the information circulated regarding the visit of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O’Flaherty, to Armenia, particular emphasis is placed on the right of return of Armenians who voluntarily left the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. In this regard, we would like to note that although the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) has repeatedly appealed to various institutions of the Council of Europe, for reasons unknown these institutions have not expressed a position on the issue of our return to our ancestral lands in Armenia.

The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights not to repeat the mistakes of his predecessors, as well as those of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, to abandon a divisive approach to human rights, and to make a public statement in support of our right of return to Armenia.
