As is known, in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Azerbaijani portrait and ornamental artist, the founder of easel painting Mirza Kadim Irevani, a number of events are being held.

Recently, by the decision of the Executive Authority of the city of Baku, one of the central streets of the capital was named after Mirza Kadim Irevani. It is emphasized that this decision is of great importance in terms of perpetuating the memory of the great artist. The assignment of the name of the master, who lived and worked in Irevan - one of the historically important cultural and artistic centers of both Western Azerbaijan and the entire Azerbaijani people - to the street where the Community of Western Azerbaijan is located, has a special symbolic meaning.

Let us recall that, like many monuments of the cultural heritage of our people in Western Azerbaijan, a significant part of the artist's works were destroyed during the violence and looting committed in 1918-1920 by Armenia against Azerbaijanis.

The Western Azerbaijan Community expresses its deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev for his consistent and principled policy in popularizing the work of Mirza Kadim Irevani and, in his person, the cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan.
