Hüseyn Məmmədov

Huseyn Teymur Mammadov was born in July 1915 in Ulukhanli village of Iravan district, former Iravan governorate. He lost his mother when he was two years old, and his father when he was 13.

After graduating from Ulukhanli village seventh grade school, he studied at the Azerbaijan Agricultural Technical University in Iravan in 1930–1933. Despite having acquired the specialty of veterinary medicine, he was sent to Aghbaba (Amasiya) district as a club manager. However, due to the aggravation of his family situation, he had to return to his native village, where he worked as a teacher of nature, history, and geography at the school until 1939, and at the same time worked as a head of the school.

H.Mammadov was the second and then the first secretary of Zangibasar District Komsomol Committee since 1939. Less than a year later, he was sent to the next position – the head of the propaganda department of Zangibasar District Party Committee.

On June 1, 1941, H.Mammadov was elected the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Zangibasar District Soviet of Workers’ Deputies. He worked as first secretary of District Party Committee in Vedi in 1943–1946, and in Zangibasar in 1946–1947. In 1947–1950, he studied at the Moscow Higher Party School. After returning, H.Mammadov worked as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Armenian SSR until March 1951. Then he was appointed as the responsible secretary of the “Soviet Armenia” newspaper, but after a few months he became the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Vedi District Council.

In 1960, H.Mammadov was appointed the first secretary of the Amasiya District Party Committee. After working in this position for 3 years, he was appointed deputy head of the department in the People’s Control Committee of the Armenian SSR. He worked in this position until the end of 1970 and retired at the age of 55.

In 1971, H.Mammadov moved to Baku with his family. In 1971–1975, he worked as a head of the department in the Lenin District (now Sabunchu) Executive Committee of Baku, and in 1976–1989, he worked as a senior personnel inspector at Khirdalan and then Binagadi concrete plants.

H.Mammadov was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR (II, IV, V convocations), a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the republic, and then he was elected deputy chairman of the Supreme Soviet. He was awarded the “Order of the Patriotic War” and many medals.

H.Mammadov died in April 1994 in Baku.

He is the father of Doctor of Architecture, Professor, Rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Gulchohra Mammadova.
