Statement regarding the attempt of the European Parliament to intervene in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan
17 March 2024, 09:55

A group of corrupt and racist members of the European Parliament insulted Azerbaijan under the pretext of protecting cultural heritage and tried to interfere in its internal affairs. In their addresses, parliamentarians did not use the universal expression “world cultural heritage,” which includes the heritage of all peoples, but expressions that discriminated on religious grounds and spoke exclusively about the Armenian heritage.

Everyone knows that Armenia systematically and massively destroyed the cultural heritage belonging to Azerbaijanis on its territory and in the territories of Azerbaijan it once occupied. On the territory of Armenia, 300 mosques, hundreds of cemeteries, and many other cultural monuments were razed to the ground. Armenia does not allow a visit by a UNESCO mission to monitor the state of Azerbaijani cultural heritage there.

Instead of slandering Azerbaijan and sowing discord on religious grounds, fake members of the European Parliament should make efforts to implement the visit of the UNESCO mission to Armenia, stop the destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage there and restore what was destroyed, and most importantly, support the return of 300 thousand Western Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia.
