Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan again made statements distorting the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
First of all, it was Armenia that for 30 years demonstrated clear disrespect for the Alma-Ata Declaration, violated the territorial integrity of another country, and did not allow the delimitation and demarcation of borders.
Ararat Mirzoyan's statement that Azerbaijan is not responding to the proposal to create a mechanism to control border incidents and weapons is an insincere and completely meaningless attempt to present itself as a constructive party in the eyes of the international community. No one doubts that Armenia, which for 30 years ignored multilateral mechanisms in the field of conventional arms control in Europe, kept Azerbaijani territories under occupation and stationed its troops and weapons there, will “stick to” any other arms control mechanism. Moreover, as long as Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan remain in the Armenian constitution and legislation, the country's commitment to the peace process remains in question.
The Western Azerbaijan Community believes that instead of making slanderous statements about the allegedly forced resettlement of Karabakh Armenians, turning a blind eye to the anti-Azerbaijani activities of the so-called “institutions” pursuing a policy of militarization, creating tension on the borders, Armenia should sincerely strive for peace with Azerbaijan and create conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their native lands."
