As the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) approaches, which will be held in Azerbaijan this November, some circles in Armenia, the Armenian diaspora and racists in Western countries like Luis Ocampo (author of a biased anti-Azerbaijani report, former chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, lawyer - ed.) launched a noisy campaign for “the release of Armenians detained in Baku.”
The Armenian society, which considers itself “tolerant” and those circles that talk about human rights and universal values, should first of all ask the Armenian authorities why they kept the territory of Azerbaijan under occupation for 30 years, demand an apology for the occupation, and begin public discussions on this matter and call for clarification of the fate of almost 4,000 missing Azerbaijanis.
In open Internet resources you can find many photographs and videos reflecting the atrocities committed by the Armenian army against Azerbaijani civilians, especially during the First Karabakh War. The Armenian society should have first of all demanded from its authorities, from the “independent judicial system”, that these military personnel and field commanders be punished.
Since all this has not happened, calls for the “release of Armenians detained in Baku” are nothing more than insincerity, deceit, propaganda of national exclusivity and dirty propaganda against Azerbaijan, which will host such a prestigious event as COP29.
