Western Azerbaijan Community

The Western Azerbaijan Community strongly condemns Armenia’s harsh reaction to the recent visit of the diplomatic corps accredited to Azerbaijan to Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur and considers it an open act of disrespect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.

At a time when Azerbaijan and Armenia are moving closer towards peace, such destructive steps undermine the peace process, damage mutual trust, and play into the hands of revanchist forces. The Western Azerbaijan Community considers Armenia’s approach an attempt to interfere in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs and a step aimed at reigniting irredentism. This also demonstrates Armenia’s lack of sincerity in the peace and normalization process.

Instead of making unfounded claims regarding Azerbaijan’s sovereign territories and historical issues, Armenian society should, first and foremost, focus on putting an end to the denial, distortion, and destruction of the rich cultural and historical heritage created by the Azerbaijani people in the territory of Armenia. This would be a practical step towards establishing lasting peace between the two countries and their societies.
