The Western Azerbaijan Community expresses its concern over a number of attempts directed against peace both in Armenia and beyond its borders, which contradict the positive momentum observed in the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process following the historic summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, with the participation of U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the spirit of the recent meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Abu Dhabi.
In this regard, we strongly condemn the provocative decision of a court in Armenia claiming that the so-called “decision on the dissolution” of the fictitious entity, allegedly adopted by an individual named Samvel Shahramanyan, was made under the use or threat of force and therefore lacks legal validity.
This court ruling is explicitly directed against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. On what grounds and under what mandate does an Armenian court interfere in the internal affairs of a sovereign state?
The Western Azerbaijan Community also views this court decision as an expression of anti-peace activities by revanchist forces in Armenia, where parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held later this year.
If the Armenian court is genuinely committed to contributing to peace and reconciliation between the two peoples, it should instead issue rulings condemning the deportation of Western Azerbaijanis from their ancestral lands, as well as the destruction of cemeteries and mosques.
