Statement on the policy of double standards between the European Union and the United States
22 March 2024, 14:56

There have been reports in the press that an Armenia-EU-US meeting will be held in Brussels on April 5, 2024.

We believe that against the backdrop of the recent hostile campaign launched by some circles against Azerbaijan, especially attempts to provide military assistance to Armenia through the European Peace Fund (EPF), the Brussels meeting is a step that does not serve to advance the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and sends erroneous messages This meeting is another example of the dangerous trend of transferring geopolitical competition to the South Caucasus and creating dividing lines in the region.

We note with regret that, despite our repeated appeals for support of our just cause, both the European Union and the United States are indifferent to them.

The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on the European Union and the United States, which constantly talk about respect for international law and human rights, to put an end to the policy of double standards, not to hold meetings with a dubious agenda, and if one is held, to raise with Armenia the issue of this country’s abandonment of the militaristic policy and creating conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis to the lands of their ancestors, the visit of a UNESCO fact-finding mission
